Position Summary:
The STEM Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging hands-on instruction in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics. This position promotes critical thinking problem-solving creativity and collaboration while aligning instruction with state standards and the schools mission. The STEM Teacher fosters curiosity and innovation while supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of all students. The candidate must hold or be eligable for a NC Teaching License.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum
- Develop and implement standards-based STEM lessons.
- Integrate science technology engineering and math concepts across disciplines.
- Facilitate project-based learning and real-world problem-solving activities.
- Utilize instructional technology and digital tools to enhance learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Assessment & Data
- Assess student learning using formative and summative measures.
- Use data to inform instruction and support student growth.
- Provide timely feedback to students and families.
Classroom Environment
- Create a safe structured and engaging learning environment.
- Establish clear expectations and classroom management procedures.
- Promote collaboration innovation and student leadership.
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with grade-level teams and special area teachers.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs).
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress.
Extended Learning & Enrichment
- Must be willing to oversee and lead after-school STEM clubs.
- Organize and prepare students for STEM-related competitions (e.g. robotics coding engineering challenges science fairs).
- Coordinate logistics and communication for competitions and related events.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Support school-wide initiatives and STEM-related programs.
