Job Summary
Overview
An adjunct in anatomy or basic sciences is responsible to teach is responsible to teach in the lecture and/or laboratory setting. Adjuncts are assigned to provide instruction in a portion of the curriculum for which they have suitable training and experience.
Responsibilities
The following outlines the basic responsibilities of this position. Other duties are to be assigned as necessary.
- Prepare and deliver lectures or laboratory lessons on assigned topics
- Participate in assessment of student performance through appropriate examination methods as assigned
- Promote an appropriate atmosphere for student education and be responsive to students needs
- Serve on TouroCOM committees as assigned.
- Provide reports budgetary information and other documents as requested by department chairs directors and deans
- Advise and mentor students
- Participate in medical student admission interviews
Qualifications
Education Preparation and Training
- Graduate level degree (Masters or Doctoral) in any of the topics mentioned in the job responsibilities section.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
- Proficient in the following areas: Relevant content expertise research techniques instructional design delivery and assessment course management psychometrics/statistics learning theory public speaking effective communication conflict management.
Computer Skills
- Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint Word Outlook and Excel as well as software used to prepare and administer written exams electronically
- Experience with Learning Management Systems.
