The Senior Business Partner IT is a key advisor to Executive and Senior Leadership teams responsible for leading the development of strategic initiatives aligned to organisational goals across their portfolio. The role operates at both strategic and operational levels driving integrated planning workforce capability service transformation and performance improvement across the Technology domain. This position combines consultative influence complex problem-solving and leadership to enable the achievement of University priorities through tailored innovative and data-informed solutions. As a senior leader the role actively contributes to institution-wide strategy and plays a pivotal role in change leadership stakeholder engagement and the delivery of local and enterprise initiatives. The Senior IT Business Partner acts as the principal conduit between UNSW IT and faculties/divisions ensuring alignment of operational activity with strategic objectives. The role reports into a Head of IT Partnership and Engagement and has no direct reports.
Accountabilities:
Provide strategic advice to Executive Team members and senior leaders across the University contributing to Faculties/Divisions institutional decisions regarding technology investment structure and service delivery.
Lead the development of integrated strategic technology plans across specific Faculties/Divisions and alignment with UNSW Progress for All and Technology LEAP strategies (e.g. incorporating risk analysis stakeholder input and institutional priorities).
As part of the Technology LEAP strategy this role will champion and help design future digital experiences create value with discipline adopt modern working methods including championing AI and emerging technology build digital acumen and enable safe innovation across the University.
Serve as a trusted advisor and primary interface between Faculties/Divisions and UNSW IT central units working collaboratively with leadership teams and SME to identify technology innovations translate business needs into effective service solutions. This role would primarily cover Faculty of Medicine & Health.
Interpret and apply data insights market research performance trends and stakeholder feedback to identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities.
Represent the University on internal and external committees taskforces or advisory groups to influence outcomes and ensure the Universitys interests are advanced.
Develop and maintain strong networks across the University to support cross-functional alignment knowledge sharing and coordinated execution of local and strategic priorities.
Supports the development and implementation of performance frameworks OKRs and reporting dashboards to measure impact track progress and drive accountability.
Champion enterprise initiatives and culture programs such as equity sustainability digital uplift or leadership development ensuring effective local adoption and alignment.
Support and contribute to budget planning forecasting and resource optimisation within the functional area advising key stakeholders on prioritisation and investment decisions.

Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks projects and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.
Who you are:
Relevant tertiary qualification with significant and sustained relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
Proven experience operating as a trusted advisor to senior executives in a complex matrixed organisation influencing across different organizational levels this role would primarily cover Faculty of Medicine & Health and previous experiences in this area would be beneficial.
Advanced stakeholder management skills with the ability to navigate competing priorities manage ambiguity and deliver value in partnership with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
High-level problem solving analytical and critical thinking capability with the ability to derive actionable insights from data research and market trends.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams to drive capability building foster a positive culture and achieve shared outcomes. Success in this role will rely on partnering and influencing rather than direct managerial oversight.
Sophisticated understanding of university operations including governance compliance and enterprise systems.
An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
