About the Role

The Disability Liaison will work closely with clients living with disability and their support network whereapplicable to:

• Understand client needs and work collaboratively with Ruah employees through a casemanagement model to identify and refer clients to suitable services and provide information and resources.
• Connect women and children with disability to the services that cansupport them to receive the financial supports they are entitled to andassist them to navigate those systems where required.
• Advocate on behalf of clients to NDIS and Disability Support Services inthe community where required.
• Review client documentation for NDIS assessment on behalf of clientsto ensure the necessary standard is met.
• Provide advice guidance and education to other Karlup Service staffworking with clients living with disability to continuously improve capabilityand capacity to work effectively with the cohort.
• Contribute to case management meetings relating to clients engagingwith the Disability Liaison offering.
• Maintain client files and records.
• Monitor service delivery identify issues and opportunities andcontribute to continuous improvement of the Disability Liaison offering.
• Ensure continuous communication with the Team Lead with updates ofthe service(s) provided and any issues that need to be escalated.

This is a fixed-term full-time position (6 months) with the possibility of extension.

What were looking for

The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:

• Minimum qualification Certificate IV in social work community services disability support or arelated discipline and/or minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar role.
• Substantial experience within the disability support sector including demonstrated knowledge of disability related support services within the community.
• Demonstrated understanding of the intersection between disability and Mental Health FDV and/or homelessness.
• Capability to work effectively with a trauma and culturally informed model of service delivery.
• Ability to work independently with a high level of reliability and contribute to the functioning of theteam.
• Effective interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of computer skills including Microsoft Office and client reporting system.

The following criteria are considered desirable:

• Previous experience in working effectively with women who have experienced family and domesticviolence and a sound understanding of the dynamics of family and domestic violence and the socialand cultural context in which it occurs.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of diversity and social inclusion- including gender sexuality disability cultural age and linguistic diversity and Aboriginal culture.
