Overview
Touro College of Dental Medicine invites applications for a Nurse to deliver and integrate primary care to a wide variety of patients registered at Touro College of Dental Medicines Albuquerque clinic. This role will perform patient assessments alongside dental students and faculty with the overall goal to create an interprofessional education experience for students that links together oral health and primary care. The Nurse will have an opportunity to work closely as a team member with faculty student and staff in order to deliver premium care to each and every patient.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Working with dental students and faculty in patient assessment/screening
- Educates students to screen for co-morbidities
- Performs appropriate patient screening history and physical examination
- Assists with Touros vaccination program and annual health assessments for credentialing
- Assists with the development of Touros program on medical emergencies and prevention strategies within the dental clinic
- The individual will work with other professionals to sustain common respect and shared values in our patient centered care clinical environment
- Develops and implements patient management plans as neededInterprets diagnostic tests as needed
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Masters Degree from a Nurse program accredited by the ACEN or CCNE required.
- Must maintain full and current license as a Registered Professional Nurse from the American Nurse Association or another nationally recognized certifying body in New Mexico.
- Completion of a pharmacology component of not less than three semester hours or the equivalent and has proficiency in federal laws relating to prescription and record keeping.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative setting.
Certifications/Licensures
- National Board Certification in specialty area required.
- Certification to be obtained prior to next re-credentialing review.
