Role Purpose:
Banking Operations & Credit Services provides backend support to HSBC Japan. The job holder is required to understand the life-cycle of deposit accounts/credit facilities to proceed them with error free. Also the job holder is required to ensure the operation efficiency and higher productivity for providing excellent level of services to both external and internal customers.
This role supports:
- Daily operation checking and performance monitoring on 1) Banking Operations for corporate customer (Deposit Account Open/Servicing/Closure) 2) Credit Services for corporate customer (Lending Operation/ Facility Management/ Security Management for loans and overdraft) 3) Reporting 4) legacy Private Banking services (Mortgage loan and Unit Trust).
- Quality productivity resource and cost management.
- Process improvement includes but not limit to streamlining elimination migration and automation.
- Participating projects as process leader.
- Engage in relevant Internal/external audit and inspection for supporting Manager.
- Reporting incidents and crisis also escalating any issues timely to manager.
- Outsourcing management (vendor management incl. offshore team management) for supporting Manager
Role Context:
- Banking Operations & Credit Services is in a position as a coordinating contact among different departments (such as IL Wholesale Credit Risk Finance Global Banking and their product teams).
- Banking Operations & Credit Services consist of the tasks 1) Banking Operations for corporate customer (Deposit Account Open/Servicing/Closure) 2) Credit Services for corporate customer (Lending Operation/ Facility Management/ Security Management for loans and overdraft) 3) Reporting 4) legacy Private Banking services (Mortgage loan and Unit Trust).
- Banking Operations & Credit Services ensures the mitigation of the potential loss from the operational risk by implementing the robust daily workflow / procedures.
- Banking Operations & Credit Services reports the identified issue to Head of DBS Operations while monitors certain types of risks and also escalates relevant issues to 2nd Lines of Defense team e.g. IL Wholesale Credit Risk Legal Compliance Finance.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensure to manage the operational risks.
- Maintain an awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of occurrence.
- Maintain the internal control standards implement and observe the group compliance policy
- Ensure efficient effective and accurate operation.
- Make a commitment of accurate Management Information
- Improve work efficiency and be the safeguard of the bank from operational loss
Experience Skills and Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of working experience
- Preferably 3-5 years of experience in banking in an operations/processing environment and with basic level of other soft skills e.g. project management accounting planning and documentation
- Ability to prioritise own work and maintain good control in a changing environment
- Strong sense of initiative and pro-activeness and self-driven by acting as role model for junior level staff
- Customer service oriented with an ability to think creatively and out of the box
- Communication and inter-personal skills
- Business level of English and Japanese (listening speaking and writing)
