DescriptionThe Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking an Open Rank to serve the clinical and educational missions of the Division of Neonatology. The division is based at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in Tampa FL. TGH is a 1018-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. It is a private not-for-profit hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in west central Florida serving a dozen counties with a population of over 4 addition to being a Level 1 trauma center it also has a Level 3 NICU. The 82-bed Jennifer Leigh Muma NICU is a designated Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center designated by the State of Florida to deliver the highest level of medical care to premature and sick infants and to women with high-risk pregnancies. USF/TGH Neonatology also participates in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative a statewide initiative to improve maternal and infant health outcomes in Florida.
Responsibilities- Clinical: The position includes the management of patients in the neonatal intensive care unit at Tampa General Hospital.
- Teaching: The faculty member will contribute to departmental teaching programs for neonatal fellows pediatric residents and medical students. He/she will participate in the preparation and organization of new educational programs as well as university and departmental committees grand rounds lectures etc.
- Research: The faculty member will be encouraged to participate in ongoing research in the Division of Neonatology and contribute to divisional efforts to seek funding for extramural research.
- Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching research service and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university college/school or department.
QualificationsMinimum:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching academic research and service.
- Associate/Full Professor: Normally will have produced creative work professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals.
- Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Associate or Full Professor.
- Must hold or be eligible for a full unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent perform this position the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents fellows and medical students in clinical medicine.
- Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Neonatology & Perinatal Medicine.
Preferred:
- Candidates with 5-7 years of professional experience and a demonstrated track record of leading or developing programs in the clinical or research setting. ECMO experience preferred but not required.
