Position Summary
The Powerlifting Coach is responsible for organizing directing and supervising the schools powerlifting program including training student-athletes and preparing them for competitions. The role promotes safe and effective use of the weights and supports student-athlete development emphasizing proper technique conditioning and overall wellness.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Program Organization and Administration
Organize and oversee the powerlifting program including practice schedules meet participation and program planning.
Coordinate competition participation and communicate schedules and expectations with student-athletes and families.
Work with the Director of Athletics regarding scheduling equipment needs and program operations.
Coaching Skill and Development
Plan and conduct practices focused on strength training and powerlifting techniques.
Teach proper lifting form training principles and injury prevention.
Prepare student-athlete for competitions through appropriate training and conditioning.
Student Supervision and Development
Supervise student-athletes during practices competitions and related activities.
Promote sportsmanship teamwork and positive character development.
Encourage academic responsibility and appropriate conduct among student-athletes.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure safe training practices and proper use of weight room equipment.
Promote positive training habits and responsible use of the facility.
Follow District policies procedures and expectations regarding student supervision and safety.
Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree required; Bachelors Degree in Education Physical Education or related field preferred.
Experience in strength training conditioning or coaching preferred.
Successful completion of First Aid/CPR training.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of strength training conditioning and powerlifting techniques.
Powerlifting Coach
Ability to instruct proper lifting form and ensure safe practices.
Ability to design and implement training programs for students.
Strong organizational communication and leadership skills.
Ability to collaborate with coaches and staff across athletic programs.
Ability to promote a safe inclusive and performance-focused environment.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand move and actively supervise students during workouts and practices.
Ability to demonstrate lifting techniques and assist with equipment setup.
Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.

Work Environment
Exposure to indoor weight room and training environments.
Evening and/or early morning hours required.
