Repsol is seeking a student to intern with the Production Allocation Engineering Team during the summer of 2026.

About the Role
The Production Allocation Engineering Intern will support the daily and monthly processes used to track validate allocate and report oil gas and water production across the asset. This role provides handson exposure to the full productionvolume lifecyclefrom wellhead measurement through gathering systems and facility balances to final sales reporting.
The intern will work closely with Production Engineers Field Operations Measurement and Production Accounting to ensure production data is accurate timely and aligned with operational realities in the field.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering student interested in production engineering operations optimization petroleum engineering data workflows or production accounting systems in the upstream oil & gas industry.
What the Intern Will Learn

- Production reconciliation facility balancing and troubleshooting data discrepancies.
- How allocation accuracy impacts financial reporting regulatory filings and engineering analysis.
- Handson exposure to real operational challenges in a producing asset.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Monthly Allocation Support
- Assist with daily welllevel production allocation for oil gas and water volumes.
- Support monthly close activities including comparing allocated volumes to tank strapping meter readings SCADA data and production accounting system totals.
- Help identify and reconcile discrepancies in production data (e.g. well tests theoretical to allocated analysis tank measurement errors facility imbalances).
- Validate PVT data and assist in generating updated well test inputs for allocation engines.
Data Quality & Systems
- Update and maintain production data in allocation systems (e.g. Energy Components ProCount Avocet Aries TOW P2 Merrick or internal equivalents).
- Review facility balancing issues and support corrections to allow monthly allocation to close.
- Assist in building or improving Power BI dashboards for visualization of production trends or allocation accuracy.
- Help maintain allocation network diagrams (well facility battery sales point).
Operations & Engineering Support
- Work with Allocation Engineers to monitor performance trends identify unusual production behavior or flag potential well or facility issues.
- Support analysis on flaring venting downtime coding and production loss categorization.
- Collaborate with Measurement and Field Operations to verify meter performance test separator data tank gauging and equipment limits.
Special Projects (depending on timing and asset needs)
- Assist with creating or updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to allocation and production data workflows.
- Participate in allocation model improvements (e.g. new well setups route modeling facility optimization).
- Help support regulatory reporting inputs (state production reporting environmental volumes emissionsrelated data).
Required Qualifications
- Fully authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship now or in the future. Additionally we are not authorized for employment under OPT/CPT/F1 visa programs.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Data Engineering or a related technical field.
- Students with an expected graduation 2027-2026 are encouraged to apply (juniors or sophomores).
- Minimum GPA of 3.3 or higher
- Must be available for a continuous 12-week period for the duration of the 2026 summer intern program 5/18-8/7
Technical Skills
- Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
- Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables lookups basic analytics).
- Familiarity with production systems SCADA or engineering software is a plus (Spotfire Power BI Energy Components ProCount Avocet Merrick Aries or similar).
- Basic understanding of oil & gas production operations preferred.
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers field personnel and accounting teams.
- Selfdriven and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Internship Details:
- Position will be based out of our office in The Woodlands TX. Interns are expected onsite each day and schedule is set by the manager based on project scope and timeline.
- Non-local candidates may be considered but must arrange their own travel and temporary accommodations. A summer stipend will be provided to help offset personal expenses.
- Students must be available for the full duration of the internship from May 18-Aug 7. Any personal time off must be approved by the supervisor as unpaid leave and should be noted with the recruiter as early as possible.
- Interns will receive an hourly wage but are not eligible for benefits or paid time off. Interns will be compensated for observed company holidays.
