The company is a manufacturing business based in Blouberg Cape Town. It operates a production team and workshop that handles metal steel and other materials including the production of studs.
The Role: Band Saw Operator Omada 250
The purpose of this role is to accurately cut materials to specified lengths and dimensions using a band saw while maintaining high standards of quality. The role contributes to the business by ensuring the safe use of machinery to fulfill job specifications and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Main focus areas include interpreting technical drawings measuring materials and performing routine maintenance on saw equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proven experience as a band saw or cut-off saw operator preferably in a metal or manufacturing environment.
- Operate band saw equipment to cut metal steel or other materials according to job specifications.
- Read and interpret job cards cutting lists and technical drawings.
- Measure and mark materials before cutting to ensure accuracy.
- Stamp finished products with identification marks as per the job card.
- Monitor equipment during operation and report any faults or irregularities.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of saw equipment.
- Assist with general workshop tasks including grinding of studs and pulling stock orders.
About You
- Proven experience as a band saw or cut-off saw operator.
- Basic understanding of material types measurements and cutting tolerances.
- Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Physically fit and able to handle heavy materials safely.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Reliable punctual and self-motivated.
- Matric (NGF level 4) preferred.
