This is a paid full-time 6-month internship with RTÉ Irelands national public-service broadcaster.

Youllrotate across two core areas of Broadcast & Media Services:
  • Platform Operations
  • Media Management
Together these teams sit at the heart of broadcastingmanaging schedules content delivery access services live output and the systems that keep everything running behind the scenes.

Pay: 32141 per yearpro rata (16070.50 for the 6-month contract)

Duration: 2ndJune 4thDecember 2026

Training: Mandatory in-person training in Dublin (2nd19thJune 2026)

Placements: on-site in Dublin

Working pattern: Full-time
(Some evening/weekend work and occasional travel)

Hybrid: Not available. This is an in-person experience

Deadline: February 25th 2026 (midnight).

Youdontneedbroadcastexperience. Curiosity attention to detail and an interest in how media works are far more important.

What training will I get

Like any real workplacetheressome mandatory training to complete alongside practical trainingthatsrelevant to the workyoullbe doing.

Youllthen join a team and be supported by a mentor with regular check-ins and guidance along the way.

Whatwill I be doing

Platform Operations (First placement)
  • Learn how programmes get from producers to TV radio and on-demand
  • Help preparecheckand deliver content soitsaccurateand on time
  • Support scheduling across platforms
  • Understand quality checks and technical standards
  • Help add access services like subtitles audiodescriptionand sign language
  • See how publicservice media is planned and made accessible behind thescenes

Media Management & Live Operations (Second placement)
  • Experience how live content is managed especially sport
  • Support media ingest storage and asset management
  • Learn how live broadcast signals are booked and coordinated
  • Understand metadata mediagovernanceand content tracking
  • Shadow experienced operators during live broadcasts
  • Train (with supervision) on systems used in sports production

Whatwill I learn
  • An understanding of broadcast workflows from end to end
  • Experience working in time-critical live environments
  • Confidence using professional broadcast and media systems
  • Strong coordination and communication skills
  • Insight into how accessibility and compliance are built into broadcasting
Youllbe supported throughout by a dedicated RTÉ mentor and experienced colleagues.
