Becas Planning & Environment team helps clients design and deliver projects that create lasting environmental social and community value. We integrate planning approvals environmental assessment ecology heritage sustainability and environmental management expertise to guide projects from concept to consent and beyond.

The Opportunity
This is a newly created management opportunity to support the continued growth and development of Becas national Planning & Environment section leading it and its teams towards Becas AU 2030 vision. This is a rare opportunity to shape a rapidly expanding team during a period of significant growth in our Australian business.
This role can be based at either our Sydney Melbourne or Brisbane office.
Our Manager roles are busy challenging dynamic and rewarding positions where your abilities will be tested and developed playing a significant part in developing our people hiring new team members and supporting Planning & Environments project client and commercial goals.
This is a truly exciting role with Beca being in a rapid growth phase focussed on diversification of its services and clients. It will also see you work collaboratively with senior technical and strategic team members your team leaders other Managers across our various sections and the and our General Managers. Reporting to the Capability Operations Manager this role is crucial in upholding Becas values and fostering collaboration across business lines to drive success and support both our people and growth. As part of the Manager Leadership group you will also work closely with peers across Australia to lead engage and inspire high-performing teams within a supportive and dynamic culture.
Capacity to liaise with key team members regularly in person is required and proximity to where key team growth is anticipated is desirable. The role will involve some domestic and possibly international travel.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop the Planning & Environment team through growth with a primary focus on the following key focus areas:
Championing Becas values and people focussed culture during a period of rapid growth and team development.
Partnering with the Planning & Environment senior leaders to recruit provide leadership management and strategic direction.
Maintaining performing teams who excel at technical delivery client service innovation and quality.
Onboarding and integrating new talent ensuring a smooth induction and clear ways of working.
Facilitating professional development retention and wellbeing across a predominantly new team through purposeful leadership
Ensuring good distribution of workload through effective resourcing.
Enabling engagement and work-sharing with other Beca sections to balance workload and grow capability.
About You
You are an ambitious high performer with a growth mindset who is ready to take on a leadership role or looking for your next leadership opportunity. You will have a background in earth sciences environmental planning ecology sustainability climate science and/or archaeology/heritage management with experience in consulting. To be successful in this role you will bring experience leading teams with track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
You will have the experience and track record in being able to foster an inclusive culture and set new standards for collaboration and project delivery excellence making a significant impact on both people and project outcomes. You will possess the capability to lead with foresight and agility along with the ability to think strategically and have demonstrated influencing skills to support team success.
What is important is that you will be successful in creating and driving an inspired and positive working environment and will know how to guide develop challenge and inspire other professionals within the Planning & Environment section and beyond.
