Job Title:Senior Accountant

Reporting Structure:Assistant Controller

Division:Fiscal Affairs

Job Summary:The Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of liability accounts gift/grants investments endowments and the financial operations of the University and systems including budget grants payroll financial reporting audit and tax.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Records transactions of the University timely and accurately.
Performs a variety of duties involving financial analysis of endowments investments grants and payroll.
Prepare gift reconciliation between accounting records and Institutional Advancement records.
Preparation of end-of-month journal entries as required during the month.
Assist with daily cash management of the University to include reconciliation of daily cash reporting on cash position and monthly & daily cash wire transfers.
Assist with Monthly reconciliation of all asset & liability accounts including cash.
Cross-trained in Payroll Operations and Grant Accounting.
Assists in the preparation of work papers for annual financial statement audit.
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong analytical skills good oral and written communication skills confidentiality accuracy and attention to detail teamwork experience with spreadsheets

Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Business or related field or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Skills Experience and Education:

Experience working in accounting in a higher education environment Ability to work well under pressure

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to use standard office equipment.
