Job Summary
A respected co-educational independent school in Bradford is seeking an accomplished and visionary Director of Humanities with a specialism in History to lead and develop its thriving faculty. Humanities subjects including History Geography and Politics are central to the schools academic identity with consistently strong GCSE and A-Level outcomes and high levels of Sixth Form uptake.
The Role
This is a senior academic leadership position combining strategic oversight with high-quality classroom teaching. As Director of Humanities you will set the direction for curriculum development staff performance and enrichment across the faculty.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading curriculum planning and sequencing across History Geography and Politics
Teaching History through to A-Level
Driving examination performance and academic stretch
Line managing subject leads within the faculty
Developing enrichment opportunities such as lecture series academic trips and debating initiatives
Contributing to whole-school academic strategy
The role includes appropriate leadership time to focus on faculty development and long-term planning.
The Humanities Faculty
The Humanities team is academically strong and collaborative. Schemes of work are well-established and carefully structured but there is scope for innovation and further stretch provision under new leadership.

Hold QTS and demonstrate strong academic credentials in History
Have experience teaching to A-Level

Independent school experience is advantageous but not essential for a candidate with strong leadership capability.
