Job Status: Full Time 12 Month Year benefits eligible

Hours: Variable depending on retreats/visitors but generally 40 hours a week

Primary Purpose/Job Summary:

The Caretaker for Manresa is the person who is primarily responsible for the care and maintenance of Brophys Manresa Retreat property and adjacent residential property in Oak Creek Canyon just north of Sedona AZ. This person also manages meals for all retreats and guests of the Retreat property including students and adults. The Manresa Caretaker must be able to work in accordance with Brophys retreat calendar and may be required to travel to Phoenix occasionally for supplies or to attend meetings. Housing and a vehicle for work are provided at no charge to the Manresa Caretaker and full-time benefits are also available.

Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

Being the primary property caretaker and cook for all guests of Manresa including students and adults on retreat or visiting the property and being on call for the needs of guests.

Performing repairs and upkeep of all buildings and grounds.

Completing regular maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and air filters paint/stain exteriors of cabins maintaining equipment and appliances.

Maintaining all landscaping snow removal splitting and stacking of wood maintenance and repairs of outdoor equipment/systems.

Inspecting preventative maintenance and troubleshooting various equipment and systems as needed for operations.

Shopping for and preparing meals for all retreats and events.

Coordinating in advance with retreat groups to ensure the facilities and meals are supplied according to the groups anticipated schedule and any dietary/allergy restrictions.

Working with retreat leaders at checkout to ensure departing checklist items have been completed by retreatants.

Performing janitorial services after retreats including cleaning laundry cabin inspections.

Regular shampooing of carpets waxing of floors etc.

Maintaining security of buildings grounds and equipment.

Attending Pine Flats resident meetings to stay informed about the geographic area.

Monitoring inventory of all Manresa tools and supplies.

Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a safe environment.

Prompt reporting to Facilities Director regarding issues to be resolved.

Submitting post-retreat reports to Brophys Office of Faith and Justice and attending regular virtual meetings with the Facility Director and Facilities Department Chief Engineer.

Performing other duties as assigned.

The Manresa Caretaker must comply with Brophys employment policies which include maintaining a drug-free smoke-free facility both at the Retreat Center and the adjacent residential property.

Qualifications

Requisite qualifications include:

Ability to work within Brophys retreat schedule and calendar which may include weekday evening and weekend shifts.

Ability to work outdoors as needed.

Cooking abilities for groups up to 50.

Punctuality and must be a well-organized self-starter with the ability to multitask.

Maintaining a clean and neat personal appearance.

Ability to work collaboratively with others.

Ability to read English safety labels and signs.

Bending and lifting items up to 50 pounds.

Climbing stairs stools and ladders.

Experience in handling and working with maintenance equipment and supplies.

Must pass E-Verify and a criminal background check.
