Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Policy and Regulatory Lead - North America to drive the monitoring and analysis of regional and national energy policy and regulatory developments across North America. You will curate and maintain a dynamic knowledge base of policy proposals legislative measures and regulatory initiatives to provide business relevant strategic insights to support internal stakeholders and facilitate external policy and regulatory engagement.
Reporting to the Global Head of Government and Institutional Relations this role requires a solid understanding of the power sector and a strong grasp of energy and climate policy as well as excellent analytical skills underpinning a passion for shaping the future of clean energy.
Key Responsibilities
Policy & Regulatory Intelligence
- You will monitor and analyze policy legislative and regulatory developments across the region as relevant to our business
- You will keep track of geopolitical and geoeconomic developments and their possible implications for the company
- You will leverage reports and analysis from government sources and NAM institutions to provide inputs on potential policy and regulatory changes that can impact our businesses.
Knowledge Management
- You will design and maintain a centralized structured searchable knowledge database of key policy documents regulatory filings and legislative timelines.
- You will develop dashboards or trackers to visualize policy trends and regulatory risks.
- You will produce high-quality policy briefs impact assessments and strategic recommendations to support the Communications and Government Relations function
Stakeholder Engagement
- Early engagement with relevant stakeholders on how potential policy and regulatory changes can impact Hitachi Energy businesses (e.g. trade and tariff measures environmental legislation market related developments technical topics etc.)
- Focus on monitoring and leveraging stimulus incentives and funding support at a regional national and local level across the region through various channels (e.g. footprint expansion research and innovation etc.)
- You will provide policy insights to support market and technology positioning product development and investment decisions.
- You will support the preparation of briefings and inputs for engagement with policymakers regulators and industry associations.
- You will support the drafting of consultation responses position papers and talking points for senior leadership engagement with key stakeholders
Collaboration
- You will collaborate internally with key businesses and functions across the company as relevant (e.g. legal marketing business units sustainability et.) to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Externally you will represent the company in working groups and forums as well as institutional and industry coalitions as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Science Engineering Energy Public Policy Political Science or related field with 10-15 years of relevant sector experience.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in policy analysis regulatory affairs or government relations in the power sector.
- Deep understanding of the region and associated policy and regulatory frameworks and processes.
- Strong writing research and communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues into actionable insights.
- Experience with knowledge management tools and data visualization platforms is a plus.
