Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) - ICU Day Shift

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER) is a specialty animal hospital located in Portland Oregon. Our hospital team includes highly skilled veterinarians specializing in Emergency/Critical Care Internal Medicine Neurology Surgery Ophthalmology and are supported by dedicated technicians and support staff.

Who are we looking for right now

Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency & Referral is looking for experienced an Certified Veterinary Technician for our ICU department. We are currently seeking coverage for three 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm. Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required.

Essential Job Functions

  • Triage and assessment of cases - including alerting DVM of patients in critical conditions
  • Perform diagnostic tests and procedures
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by DVM
  • Provide support and education to pet owners
  • Maintain accurate medical records

Required Skills

  • Valid certification as a veterinary technician in the state of Oregon (CVT)
  • Prior experience in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure
  • Confident in life saving procedures such as CPR chest taps and urinary deobstruction
  • Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills advanced catheter and sampling line placement skills preferred
  • Assisting and monitoring of surgical and sedated procedures including management of unstable patients. Additional anesthesia training to be provided.
