Job Overview
Tekberry is seeking an experienced Facilities Specialist III to support building operations for a complex high-visibility academic and administrative facility. This individual contributor role is responsible for overseeing operations maintenance coordination repairs compliance inspections and building improvements across one or more complex facilities.
This is a hands-on facilities operations leadership role - not a technician position. The person in this role serves as the primary point of contact for building occupants and facilities partners and is responsible for ensuring safe compliant and efficient building operations.
Candidates must be comfortable working fully onsite and independently managing building-related issues and projects.
Responsibilities:
Building Operations & Primary Point of Contact
- Serve as the primary contact for maintenance security vendor contracts and occupant communications
- Receive investigate and resolve building issues reported via ServiceNow email or verbal communication
- Advocate on behalf of building occupants when maintenance work may disrupt operations
- Assess and provide feedback on custodial elevator and contracted services quality
Building Improvements & Project Coordination
- Identify and implement building improvement projects (small lab changes office furniture updates recarpeting etc.)
- Develop plans for small lab and office projects; obtain funding and oversee execution to completion
- Coordinate vendors contractors facilities teams and service providers
- Provide budgeting input for building improvements and capital planning
- Support larger facilities projects in partnership with Facilities Planning & Engineering and project management teams
Inspection Compliance & Preventative Measures
- Perform regular visual inspections of building systems and facilities
- Create and manage inspection protocols and tracking systems
- Analyze ServiceNow data work orders and occupant feedback to identify recurring issues
- Develop preventative maintenance programs and procedures to reduce recurring problems
- Ensure building compliance with fire code requirements
- Conduct pre-inspections before fire marshal reviews and accompany fire inspections
- Analyze repeat findings and implement root cause corrective actions
Security Safety & Sustainability
- Identify potential security concerns and propose/implement solutions
- Collaborate with health & safety teams and facilities management to maintain safe operations
- Recommend improvements to aesthetics sustainability and functionality of shared spaces
- Ensure common areas and furnishings meet occupant needs (repair replace or clean as needed)
- Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
Analyze inspection data and historical maintenance records - Identify patterns in equipment failures or system disruptions
- Recommend and implement predictive or preventative strategies
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required
- Minimum 5 years of related facilities management experience
- Experience managing complex building operations and vendor coordination
- Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC fire/life safety security elevators utilities)
- Experience working with work order systems (ServiceNow or similar)
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Professional communication skills with diverse stakeholders
- Valid drivers license (driving required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting multi-building or high-risk regulatory environments
- Experience managing small facilities improvement projects
- Budget input and financial tracking experience
- Knowledge of fire code compliance and inspection processes
- Experience collaborating with facilities planning and engineering teams
