General Maintenance Worker

SUMMARY

Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting carpentry plumbing masonry and electrical work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and/or move interior wall partitions move and/or re-arrange containers build and/or move rubble piles wooden facades add safety rails add fixed ladders add safety cages close off doorways close off windows cut new windows cut new doorways move and/or re-arrange scrap vehicles move and/or re-arrange jersey barriers move and/or re-arrange furniture etc.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Empty trash cans sweep and mop floors dust furniture and equipment clean windows.
• Inspect and clean or replace HVAC filters.
• Complete sweep down & cleanup of the training facilities where applicable. (This will consist of the removal of all trash MRE debris brass links empty ammo boxes ammo crates banding material etc. throughout the entire facility including all structures).
• Operate a mower and string trimmer for ground maintenance.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma required.
• Two (2) years experience in maintenance services.
• Any combination of education training and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades.
• Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Flexibility in scheduling work hours and available for occasional travel.
• Must be able to use hand power tools and work effectively within a team.
• Has knowledge of carpentry painting and electrical systems.
• Has basic computer skills and can learn new systems.
• Prioritize task and manage time to meet deadlines.

WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

TRAVEL

The expected travel time is less than 10%.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have or be able to attain a valid state drivers license and be insurable on the companys automobile insurance policy. Driving with or without accommodation may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 10%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed outdoors but may also be performed in a maintenance facility as well as in outdoor military training areas. Work is often performed in adverse conditions including inclement weather such as high humidity heat cold high wind rain and various local conditions. Our mission is to train US Marines; therefore we work side by side with them in all climates and conditions. Employee may be exposed to sharp objects and may be exposed to some heat loud noise chemicals lead and vibration. Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory if applicable. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions personalities and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position consists of standing for long periods of time bending kneeling stooping crouching seeing up close and lifting boxes weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for handling to work with such hand tools as lawn equipment outdoor tools shovels wrenches screwdrivers wire cutters pliers and soldering irons.
