Surgical Clinical Assistant HandWrist Surgery

Rothman Orthopaedics is looking for aSurgical Clinical Assistantto join our team based in Center City Philadelphia! This position is designed to support one of our Hand & Wrist Surgeons and requires travel to our offices in Media and Glen Mills PA.

Job Summary:

The Surgical Clinical Assistant (SCA) provides assistance to the Physician and Physicians Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties. Responsibilities include assisting with post-op suture and staple removal post-op wound care pre-admissions testing orders responding to patient calls and messages and more.

Key Accountabilities:

Increase patient satisfaction compliance with schedule prep voicemail compliance with policies and procedures decrease wait times.

Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

• Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room.
• Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout.
• Maintains order cleanliness and inventory in the exam room and prepares exam room for patients to enter.
• Cleans and autoclaves instruments.
• Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for Physicians review.
• Records vitals as per Physicians request.
• Prepares injections for the Physician.
• Pulls up x-rays MRIs CTs and various studies pertaining to the patients exam.
• Assists patient with clothing when necessary.
• Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full.
• Answers telephones in patient areas and provides voicemail coverage for Physician.
• Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians.
• Empties and restocks laundry.
• Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order.
• Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports dictations and studies are present in the chart.
• Completes pre-certifications for MRIs and other Physician orders as necessary.
• Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative.
• Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders prescriptions etc. on the date of service).
• Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician.
• Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
• Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED minimum education requirement
• Must be a CCMA CRMA EMT LPN or ATC
• Professional license/certification must be active and valid
• Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology
• Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office Suite
• Experience with EMR system(s) preferred

Office Hours:

Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Hours per Week:

40 (will work 5 days of 8-hour shifts)

Location Schedule:

• Monday Wednesday Friday: Center City
• Tuesday: Media
• Thursday: Glen Mills

Pay Range:

• Medical Assistant (CCMA/CRMA): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-A/EMT-B): $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr
• Athletic Trainer (ATC): $48000/yr - $70000/yr
