Job Summary
Salary/Position Classification

Purpose of Position
The mission of UNDs College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is to provide excellent and collaborative education scholarship and service to advance human well-being for all with an emphasis on rural and underserved populations.
The CNPD is comprised of three departments: Nursing Nutrition & Dietetics and Social Work.
The department of Social Work is seeking a full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank. This individual will contribute to a productive and collegial academic team and will develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with students. The faculty member will teach primarily in the MSW program - specifically the clinical social work specialization. Teaching assignments may also include other areas of the MSW program and/or the BSSW program depending on enrollment and the needs of the department.
The department is seeking an individual with expertise in clinical mental health and/or substance use disorders as well as rural social work practice. The successful candidate will develop a nationally/internationally recognized research program and will engage in active efforts to pursue and secure external funding to build research related activities will be determined by the individuals research agenda which will be developed in consultation with the department chair and associate dean. This position may also have administrative duties assigned to coordinate the clinical social work specialization.
This position is for a full-time (9 month) contract and requires an in-person on-campus presence. A separate summer (3 month) contract related to field instruction (field seminar and supervision of field placements) may also be available.
Duties & Responsibilities
- 40% - Teaching
- Teaching will be dependent on departmental needs. A sample of classes would include (but not be limited to):
- Clinical Diagnosis I
- Clinical Diagnosis II
- Advanced Policy
- Clinical Practice with Groups
- Research in Clinical Practice
- Clinical Practice in Macro Settings
- Clinical Practice with Individuals and Families
- SWK Elective Teaching activities will also include advising as well as field assignments with both supervision and liaison duties.
- Teaching will be dependent on departmental needs. A sample of classes would include (but not be limited to):
- 40% - Research
- Scholarly/creative activities will be determined in consultation with the department chair and will be consistent with department college and university expectations and policies/procedures.
- 20% - Service
- Service activities will be determined in consultation with the department chair and will be consistent with department college and university expectations and policies/procedures.

Minimum Requirements
- MSW from a CSWE accredited Social Work program
- Doctoral degree in Social Work OR related field
- Two years of full-time post-MSW social work practice experience in a mental health/behavioral health setting
- Eligibility for licensure in ND as at least an LMSW
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
