Sr. Database Engineer, Amazon Redshift

We are looking for senior database engineers that are passionate about data warehousing and love to work with customers to help them with database design usage patterns and performance.

We expect candidates to be able to:
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of database systems internals including relational database design and distributed databases/MPP architectures
- Lead strategic data architecture & database design discussions with customers
- Drive and oversee workload analysis performance benchmarking and troubleshooting efforts with customers in their environments
- Clearly communicate deep technical topics to customers
- Influence the engineering team roadmap towards building a product that is scalable easy to use and build on and addresses customer needs
- Conduct POCs with customers in competitive situations
- Leverage good coding/scripting skills to automate tasks and improve workload analysis mechanisms

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering a related field or equivalent experience
- 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Experience in external enterprise customer-facing role as a technical lead with strong oral and written communication skills presenting to both large and small audiences

- Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries with large-scale complex datasets
- Knowledge of overall system architecture scalability reliability and performance in a database environment
- Experience with large-scale data analytics and data warehousing
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills attention to detail and effective communication abilities or experience in software development
- Masters degree in computer science computer engineering or related field or PhD

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
