The company operates within the life science sector specifically focusing on pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects. It delivers HVAC systems for specialized environments including ISO-classified cleanrooms laboratories and high-containment production suites.
The Role: HVAC Design Engineer (BEng/ purpose of this role is to hold full technical accountability for HVAC projects from initial concept through to detailed design procurement commissioning and validation. It exists to provide technical leadership and develop robust solutions for GMP-regulated environments including pressure cascades and biosafety environments. The position contributes to the business by ensuring technical excellence regulatory compliance and the growth of the technical team through mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a minimum of 35 years of experience in HVAC design and at least 2 years in pharmaceutical or biotech projects.
- Manage conceptual and detailed HVAC designs for specialized life science facilities and ISO-classified cleanrooms.
- Perform and review heat load calculations airflow rates psychrometric analysis and equipment sizing.
- Produce HVAC schematics P&IDs 2D/3D layout drawings and comprehensive technical reports.
- Ensure all designs strictly adhere to GMP GEP and relevant ISO or regulatory standards such as WHO EU or FDA.
- Develop equipment specifications manage technical adjudication and provide oversight of subcontractor deliverables.
- Supervise commissioning activities and support validation documentation including DQ IQ and OQ.
- Guide junior engineers and act as the primary technical contact for clients and regulatory stakeholders.
About You
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/BSc Eng/).
- Minimum 35 years of experience in HVAC design.
- At least 2 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech projects with proven experience in GMP-compliant cleanrooms.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and HVAC Design Software such as HAP or equivalent.
- Advanced skills in MS Word for formatting and MS Excel for complex formulas and data management.
- Valid drivers license passport and ability to travel for project execution.
- Physically capable of conducting site inspections and commissioning oversight.
- ECSA Professional registration (PrEng/PrTechEng) is preferred.
- Experience with Revit for 3D modeling and coordination is highly preferred.
