Network Analyst


Job Purpose

The Network Analyst is committed to serving the needs of students and staff of The High Prairie School Division #48. The Network Analyst will perform complex IT tasks with server hardware software and network systems. The Network Analyst will be primarily accountable for planning and rollout of server hardware network hardware and associated software making sure they are properly tested before deployment to production to minimize the impact of change-related incidents. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure maximum access to technology resources for High Prairie School Division end users.

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary diploma or higher education in computer science and 5 years relevant experience in IT support preferably with related network certifications.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of IT operations and processes and of applicable infrastructure deployments and applications.
  • Advanced network expertise and very knowledgeable with TCP/IP protocols.
  • Familiar with command line management tools and ideally some experience in scripting using PowerShell.
  • Sound knowledge of routing and switching configuration and support firewall implementation configuration and support network traffic analysis and troubleshooting supporting a Hyper-V Windows Server 2012 R2 environment.

Major Performance Responsibilities:

A Network Analyst will be required to perform the following tasks in accordance with vendor s best practices as part of an on-going basis:

  • Troubleshoot server network wireless infrastructure hardware and software primarily with HPE Aruba Fortinet/Fortigate and Ruckus hardware.
  • Connect and set up server network and wireless infrastructure hardware
  • Creation of staff and student user accounts in multiple systems
  • Liaise with School Administrators and Tech Contacts regarding current and future tech support needs
  • Provide detailed logs of IT support incidents in HPSD ticketing system including description work undertaken and resolution. All IT work is to be logged daily.
  • Ensure a monthly quota of processed tickets averaging 5.5 support hours per day is maintained
  • Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware software and resources
  • Maintain documentation of all server network wireless infrastructure hardware and software configuration
  • Liaise with external service providers in the resolution of moderately complex technical issues
  • Provide technical guidance and work on multiple projects in a team environment.
  • Monitor and maintain divisional network and server technology to ensure maximum availability
  • Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources
  • Monitor security of all technology
  • Advise Management of security breach and/or change of security status
  • Research current and potential technology resources and services
  • Attend Professional Development activities
  • Continuing to improve expertise and job-related skills; and
  • Support Assisting IT teams and end users with network-related issues
  • coordinating with ISPs and supporting server/application teams on connectivity needs.
  • Disaster Recovery & Redundancy Designing and testing failover systems redundant links and backup configurations to ensure business continuity.
  • Vendor & Project Management Evaluating hardware/software vendors managing network-related projects and coordinating with third-party providers.
  • Other assignments and responsibilities as assigned.

Note:

The Network Analyst will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers which can cause muscle strain. Some lifting of computer equipment supplies and materials from time to time is required.
