JOB PURPOSE

UNICEF Portugal is creating a new role for a strategic mission-driven professional to design launch and scale supporter engagement for Mid & High value segments as well as Legacy Giving.

You will architect the strategy test and learn and turn insights into high-touch relationship-led programs that increase retention upgrade and lifetime value ensuring UNICEF Portugal remains a trusted and inspiring choice for philanthropic giving. You will collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners and represent Portugal in global communities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategy & Planning

  • Design and own the go-to-market for Mid & High Value engagement: segmentation value propositions journey architecture (onboarding stewardship upgrade win-back) data-driven triggers and test-and-learn roadmap while tailoring messaging across channels.
  • Run integrated personalized campaigns (email/SMS/push premium content small-group events) targeting both warm and cold audiences.
  • Create a compelling engagement proposition based on supporter insights market research and emotional storytelling.

2. High-End Supporter Engagement & Stewardship

  • Deliver a high-end stewardship program for mid/high value supporters with personalized communications impact updates and recognition moments (briefings progress reports curated events) to deepen trust and drive upgrades.
  • Partner with Donor Success and Communications teams to co-create experiences (e.g. project immersions expert sessions) that strengthen connection and demonstrate tangible impact.
  • Lead cross-functional planning rituals and uphold message consistency across touchpoints.

3. Legacy Giving

  • Embed legacy asks naturally across journeys prioritizing the right timing audience and content so that legacy becomes a thoughtful option for high-affinity supporters.
  • Acquire Legacy Leads from Cold Audiences: Run value-led GDPR-compliant outreach (content marketing thought leadership and educational sessions) to attract and qualify new legacy-curious prospects.
  • Nurture a simple but meaningful Legacy Community (updates occasional events tailored content) to maintain trust and intent; ensure alignment with legal/finance and UNICEF global standards.

4. Operational Excellence & Collaboration

  • Coordinate external partners (copy design print legal) to deliver on-time on-budget campaign materials and experiences.
  • Liaise with UNICEF HQ for investment proposals and performance updates; contribute to the Annual Plan and organizational planning cycles.

5. Data CRM & Compliance

  • Maintain clean structured CRM data (preferences relationships history value); leverage analytics for segmentation propensity and ROI measurement; establish dashboards and recurring reporting (retention upgrade LTV event participation influenced revenue).
  • Ensure GDPR compliance and UNICEF policy adherence in data processing and legacy management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing Communications Management or related field (preferred).
  • 5 years in marketing/commercial/communications/fundraising with proven experience in high-level supporter engagement and/or relationship marketing; experience with digital channels and integrated campaign management is a plus.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills including storytelling and presentation.
  • Strategic thinker with strong planning analytical and organizational skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using CRM systems and donor analytics.
  • Empathetic and relationship-oriented with a deep understanding of supporter motivations.
  • Resilient proactive and able to lead projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to influence and inspire across teams.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English both spoken and written.
