Stipend Term-Limited Temporary Position

* This position requires applicants to be at the time of application legally authorized to work in the United States. The Bush School does not offer visa sponsorship for this position and will not consider applicants whorequirevisa sponsorship.

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Athletic Department astheGirlsVolleyballVarsity HeadCoach. We are seeking a candidate whois able tosupport the schools goals towards building a diverseequitable and inclusive community. We believe that a diversity of experiences backgrounds and talents are necessary to work with a diverse community of students faculty staff and families; we encourage diversity in our applicant pool.

The Bush School athletic program works within the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and the Emerald Sound Conference to provide athletic opportunities and competition for students of all gender identities. While most sports are offered separately for boys and girls the Athletic Department staff is committed to working collaboratively with each participant todetermineoptions that best suit each student-athletesjourney.

TheGirlsVolleyballVarsityHead Coachis responsible foroverseeing all aspects of the program including planning and leading practices coaching contests and transporting the team to off-campus sites in a school collaboration with the Athletics Department the Head Coach will recruit support and evaluate assistant and lower-level coaches andestablishthe team schedulenon-conferencecontestsand tournaments. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.

The seasonbeginson MondayAugust24 2026 and continues throughmid-November(depending on the teams post-season performance). Practicesvary between time slots andare held Monday throughFridaybetween 3:45and7:00p.m. (no longer than two hours per day)at The Bush School.

In addition to the regular season dates listed above the new Head Coach will have the opportunity to offer summer practices and lead a summer is provided for these activities.

While other duties may be assigned qualified candidates will be able to manage the following key responsibilities and tasks:

  • Provide a positive inclusive safe and challenging experience for participants

  • Teach sport-specific skills strategies training methods and safety practices

  • Communicate with athletic department staff effectively and promptly

  • Communicate regularly with student-athletes and families both in person and in writing

  • Attend meetings and trainings scheduled by the Athletic Director

  • Attend meetings scheduled by the conference district and/or state association

  • Handle student health forms with confidentiality be aware of individual health concerns and respond appropriately to medical needs.

  • Comply withall school conference and state policies and regulations

  • Supervise and mentor assistant coaches

  • Organize off-season activities (-season conditioning summer training)

Successful candidates will have:

  • Expert knowledge of given sport

  • Coaching experience and certification preferred

  • Capacity and desire to seek out andparticipatein ongoing professional development

  • Ability and willingness to be a team player

  • Satisfactory criminal background check that meets school standards

  • Safe driving record that meets school standards

  • Ability to work and connect with people

  • Outstanding communication organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Enthusiasm to contribute grow and develop as a member of the Blazers Athletic Department Team

  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office and Google applications

Additional Requirements:

  • Have a current Adult and Children CPR First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date)

  • Meet the schools standards when completing two separate background screenings

  • Complete required coaching certifications (WIAA SafeSport Vector)

  • Stamina:Ability to stand and walk for extended periods manage long days and support body with core muscles.

  • Fine Motor Skills:Using hands to grasp move or assemble small objects (e.g. papers writing).

  • Sensory:Clear hearing to distinguish sounds and vision to see differences in color shade brightness.

  • Lifting:Occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to sit and keyboard for up to 8 hours perday & lift upto 30 pounds (file boxes).

Compensation/Benefit Information for this position:

  • Stipend for this temporary term-limited position:$6550

  • Note:stipendamount reflects the total stipend when the coach attends all practices contests and team activities including the post-season.

  • Additionalcompensation is available for coaches who drive their teams to off-site practices/games.
