Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a skilled and motivated Dental Officer Level 1 or Level 2 to join our Oral Health team in Tamworth. About the Role

As a Dental Officer you will provide high-quality evidence-based clinical care within your scope of practice ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients accessing public dental services.

Level 1 practitioners will:

  • Deliver comprehensive general dental services in accordance with professional standards
  • Utilise contemporary clinical techniques equipment and digital systems
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment

Level 2 practitioners will additionally:

  • Manage more complex dental presentations
  • Demonstrate a high level of clinical autonomy
  • Contribute to clinic leadership supervision and quality improvement activities where required

Across both levels you will:

  • Provide patient-centred care with strong communication and informed consent practices
  • Uphold infection prevention and patient safety standards
  • Contribute to service development quality initiatives and contemporary models of care
  • Act in accordance with NSW Health values and professional codes of conduct

About You

You are a motivated and ethical practitioner who is committed to delivering safe high-quality dental care.

You will demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Dentistry recognised by the Dental Board of Australia
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Strong clinical reasoning problem-solving and communication skills
  • A commitment to teamwork cultural respect and continuous improvement

For Level 2 you will also bring:

  • A minimum of two years post-registration clinical experience (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to practise autonomously and manage more complex cases

  • An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
  • This position is full time; however part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.

  1. For Level 2 Applicants: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience post registration in Australia or equivalent. Adequate experience as a general practitioner dentist to perform the full range of duties and manage dental health problems of greater than usual difficulty.

  2. Tertiary qualifications in Dentistry recognised by the Dental Board of Australia and registration with AHPRA. Possess skills of clinical reasoning.

  3. Demonstrate the ability to work in a team setting with other practitioners and health professionals.

  4. Demonstrate the skills of communication with patients. Show understanding and empathy for delivering patient care.
