The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontarios capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair improper or fraudulent practices to foster fair efficient and competitive capital markets and confidence in the capital markets to foster capital formation and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. This mandate is performed through policy operational and enforcement activities. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.

What we do
The Information Services (IS) Branch supports the full spectrum of OSC employees information technology needs ensuring that the organization can effectively regulate Ontarios capital market. Specifically Information Servicesis responsible forsystem development and support services. Branch staff partner with managers and directors to develop solutions that both streamline operations andoptimizeefforts across all points of information technology.

Job Summary
The IS Quality Assurance Development Co-op Student will be instrumental in supporting the IS Branch ona number ofinitiatives. Some of the potential initiativesinclude:Integration with National Systems (SEDAR) Implementation of Dynamics 365 Cloud data migration ETL and IS modernization.

The IS Co-op Student will work under the direction of the managers of Application Services and/or Quality Assurance to support projects on each of the teams based on priority. The student may be involved with the following:

  • Utilizes Agile or Waterfall SDLC methods to develop test implement and support new/existing applications and systems modifications liaising between client and external developer/vendor to manage activities and translate specification requirements testing applications prior to implementation and ensuring new applications satisfy business needs with high quality standards.
  • Defines test methodologies and pass/fail criteria necessary for defect management riskassessmentand assumptions.
  • Writes detailed Test Cases Test Plans and operational documentation for the solutions developed and implemented
  • Manual and Automate tests projects defectsdatafixes and patches using Defect Management Tools as Jira
  • Ensures that all testing is completed and that the software functions with the highest standard of quality possible.
  • Analyzes software issues and collaborates with developers for theirtimelyresolution make recommendations for future preventative and corrective actions to ensure quality assurance standards are met
  • Engages with internal stakeholders to define business requirements technical needsidentifyingissues and challengesvalidatingdesired outcomes and expectationsidentifyingcritical designelementsand translating business process requirements into workable technology solutions.
  • Reviews business requirements/user stories issue logs with stakeholders (product owners business analysts developers) and clarify any ambiguity to ensure test conditions are understood
  • ImplementsautomatesandoptimizesQA test plans/cases from business user stories/requirement specifications to evaluate service or product functionality reliabilityqualityand performance

The IS Quality Assurance Development Co-op Student will work with a variety of stakeholders such as Project Managers Product Owners Tech Leads Technical Services Developers Quality Assurance Business Analysts and Business Reps.

What do you need to be successful in this role

  • Currently enrolled in a STEM (Science Technology Engineering or Math) or relatedpost secondaryprogram and able to complete an 8-month work term from May 2026 to December 2026
  • Experience with Agile or Waterfall SDLC methods to support applications and systems modifications using Jira as Defect Management tool
  • Experience in coding and testing automation tools such asJavascript Angular Python XML JSON REST API Selenium
  • Experience with IBM Case Manager/Filenetworkflow design configuration development is an asset
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills coupled with a can do attitude that focuses on the development of actionable solutions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong work ethic quicklearnerand the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders across the team and Branch
  • Able to work with little direction to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Self-motivated independent learner with a strong aptitude for technology with attention to detail

This opportunity is considered to be a business critical role supporting the ISDS Department
