Thoracic

We are looking for an experienced Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our growing team in Thoracic Surgery. This person is compassionate about patient care a team player adaptable appreciates a fast-paced environment and has the desire to make a difference within a growing team. This is a hybrid position that will work approximately 50% timein both inpatient and outpatientsettingsincluding travel once a week to external clinic sites within the metroplex. We are looking for an experienced provider preferably with critical care or surgery experience. This position would rotate with the other APPs on the team to cover weekendsapproximately onceper five weeks as well as rotating holiday coverage. The schedule is currently for 4-10hr shifts from 8a-6p inoutpatientsetting and three 12-hr shifts when inpatient. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Education

• Graduate of a masters degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.OR

• Masters degree or higher in nursing documentation of completion ofaccreditedAdvanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.

Licensure and Certification

• Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board.OR

• Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.

• Current applicable Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association or American Red Cross Life Support certification(s) based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers.

JOB DUTIES

• Conducts anddocumentscomprehensiveinitialand ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis including psychological status.

• Synthesizes data andutilizesevidence to develop implement and evaluate thepatientplan of care including ordering and interpreting laboratory radiology and other diagnostic studies/results.

• Demonstratesproficiencyin technical/procedural skills asappropriateand based on specialty and training.

• Provides relevant management referrals counseling and education to patients families and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.

• Facilitates/participatesin quality related initiatives and/or clinical research protocols through planned group processes workshops seminars and staff meetings to improve clinical and system practice performance.

• Collaborates in research projects and protocols; and routinely applies evidence based best practices to patient care

• Performs other duties as assigned.
