Job Summary

The Technical Project Manager piping leads mechanical and piping discipline delivery across Balance of Plant construction areas ensuring technical excellence safety and on-time completion. This role directly impacts plant performance by integrating piping systems work with overall project goals to deliver reliable cost-effective industrial facilities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage all mechanical and piping discipline activities to ensure compliance with design specifications technical standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with Plant Unit Project Managers and Construction Managers to integrate discipline-specific work into the overall plant unit schedule and scope.
  • Oversee contractors and suppliers (PMC engineering partners OEMs construction partners) monitor progress and enforce quality and safety standards.
  • Track discipline-related progress costs and resources; report status to the Technical Discipline Manager and Construction Area Project Manager.
  • Identify technical risks and drive mitigation plans with stakeholders to minimize schedule and cost impact.
  • Review approve and manage deliverables within the discipline ensuring documentation testing and commissioning readiness.
  • Provide technical input to procurement and contract negotiations; assess and implement approved change requests.
  • Apply lessons learned and continuous improvement practices to enhance delivery efficiency and reduce project risk.
  • Ensure adherence to design-to-cost targets and adjust activities to meet financial and schedule objectives.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of five years of experience in the design construction and installation of mechanical and piping systems within industrial projects such as water and wastewater treatment fire protection buildings and compressed air systems.
  • Strong technical expertise in piping systems materials mechanical installation practices and applicable industry codes and standards. Proven ability to manage contractors and suppliers while delivering discipline-specific scope on time and within budget. Experience with change control processes cost monitoring earned value tracking and technical documentation management is essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership communication problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to lead discipline engineers and site specialists in complex construction environments. Experience working in heavy industrial or Balance of Plant (BoP) projects is highly valued. Familiarity with commissioning and startup of piping systems and mechanical equipment as well as procurement technical evaluations and contract negotiations is considered advantageous.
  • Knowledge of design-to-cost methodologies and continuous improvement frameworks is beneficial. The role requires familiarity with mechanical and piping design tools construction management systems project controls software technical documentation platforms and change management systems.
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site in Luleå for extended assignments (1236 months) is required operating in safety-critical reliability-focused industrial environments with strict regulatory compliance standards.
