In this role you will be part of a small collaborative engineering team working on nextgeneration systems. Youll contribute to the design development and testing of innovative components in a handson multidisciplinary environment. Position Summary:

As a Product Development Engineer Co-Op you will work with a cross-functional team to design Abiomeds next generation of innovative heart pumps and accessories. You will work in a dynamic fast paced environment that is disrupting the medical device industry by bringing breakthrough technologies to market. This role will be on one of the various product development teams at Abiomed.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist in designing components and fixtures.
• Perform engineering feasibility testing to support design improvements.
• Execute design verification (DV) testing to evaluate device safety and effectiveness.
• Conduct root-cause and failure analyses under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Analyze data and present findings to the broader engineering team.
• Collaborate crossfunctionally with regulatory quality testing and other key stakeholders.
  

Qualifications:

• Undergraduates (sophomore junior senior) or graduate students pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering mechanical engineering electrical engineering software engineering computer science or a closely related discipline.
• Strong skills in design testing and data analysis are required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS is preferred.
• Experience with machining and/or 3D printing is a plus.
• Prior coop experience in the medical device industry is advantageous.
