The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention protection and preparation as well as the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration Health Services Rehabilitation & Reentry Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!

Description of Work

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Positions in this class are characterized by their performance of a variety of administrative clerical and office support. Job duties include:

• Knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs functions and services.

• Preparation of documents and reports composition of memos and letters the use of office technology compiling records organizing and maintaining files posting information greeting referring assisting visitors clients staff and others mail distribution and photocopying.

• Office coordinating for the administration office.

This is a full-time position(40 hours perweek) withState Benefits.

The salary grade for this position isNC02 Salary Range ($31200 - 51249).State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.

AboutNash CorrectionalInstitution:

Nash Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Nashville Nash County NC. It houses approximately 800 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to two Correction Enterprises operations located on site: the Optical Plant and the Print Plant. The Optical Plant manufactures eyeglasses for customers such as Medicaid and the Division of Services for the Blind. The Print Plant is a full-service print shop dedicated to printing services for state government agencies public school systems state community colleges and universities and non-profit organizations

Management Preference:
