Job Summary

The Host is responsible for providing the highest quality of service to guests in an attentive courteous and efficient manner. He/she is also responsible for organizing the floor the floor plan distribution of sections menus etc. Host/Hostess communicates with kitchen team at all times as well as the MOD.

Additionally the Host maintains menus host stand and reservation system/phone. Proper etiquette is a must at all times.

  • Employees must at all times be attentive friendly helpful and courteous to all guests managers and fellow employees.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in applicable outlets.
  • Service guests with all food and beverage requirements in an attentive courteous and efficient manner.
  • Be familiar with the operation of the Open Table
  • Ensure menus are clean.
  • Ensure that there are updated menus for each shift.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures and side-work duties.
  • Ensure that the host stands is kept stocked tidy and clean.
  • Service guests to the standard steps of service.
  • Escort guests to their tables and pull chairs for them.
  • Bring the guests drinks using a tray when escorting them to the restaurant from the bar.
  • Be familiar with fire extinguishers locations and know how to use them.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent reading writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Some food and beverage experience at a luxury hotel or restaurant an asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of wines spirits and mixed drinks. (bench test preferred)

Physical Requirements

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to stand for the entire shift.

  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Raffles Hotel Standards as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Raffles Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and apply complex information data etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas if needed.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Must be able to show initiative including anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties if requested by management.
  • Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
