The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for creating detailed 2D and 3D models drawings and technical documentation using SolidWorks. This role supports engineering and manufacturing by producing accurate designs for fabrication assembly and installation. The drafter collaborates with engineers and project teams to gather specifications resolve design issues and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
Create and revise 2D and 3D models in SolidWorks
Develop detailed manufacturing drawings for sheet metal machined parts assemblies and electrical schematics
Interpret sketches specifications and customer requirements
Calculate dimensions material requirements and weight limitations
Support engineering manufacturing and documentation teams
Assist in new product and equipment design
Prepare step-by-step production documentation
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability
Implement revisions based on customer or regulatory requirements
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain compliance with policies safety standards applicable drug and alcohol policies and professional conduct standards
Technical or Associate degree in drafting or equivalent experience
35 years of SolidWorks experience (2D & 3D design)
Experience with manufacturing processes assembly drawings machining and fabrication
Proficiency in SolidWorks tools including sheet metal weldments and surfacing
Strong mathematical analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and time management
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Valid Drivers License with clear driving record
Ability to pass required drug and alcohol screenings if applicable
English fluency required
Ability to sit stand walk bend lift and use hands for extended periods. Strong cognitive and visual attention required.
Work is performed in both office and shop settings. Shop conditions may include varying temperatures noise and exposure to industrial elements. Required safety equipment must be worn as applicable.
Full-time MondayFriday. Position may be salaried or hourly. Benefits may include health insurance paid time off and performance-based bonuses (waiting period may apply).
