General Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director of Behavioral Health and reporting directly to the Clinical Supervisor the Mental Health Intern works as part of the Wellness and Treatment Services treatment team to provide direct counseling and therapeutic support to students.

Assignment:

Students in their generalist year will work 400 hours (12 hours per week over 2 days). Students in their advanced year will work 500 hours (16-18 hours per week over 3 days). Work days are flexible but will need to coincide with school hours. This internship placement is for Elementary Middle School and High School age students at Battle Ground and Evergreen School Districts.

We are accepting applications from students enrolled at Portland State Univeristy and Pacific Univeristy.

This is for the 2026-2027 school year.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide assessments individual and group behavioral health treatment services to students in identified buildings under the guidance of the Clinical Supervisor.
  2. Workwithstudentsandtheirguardiansinthedevelopmentofanindividualsupportplanwhichisstrengthbased measurable and assists students in meeting theirgoals.
  3. Provideindividualfamilyandgroupcounselingprovidecarecoordinationservicesasindicatedforstudentsin accordance with the individual support plan and evaluationrecommendations.
  4. Actively participate as a member of multidisciplinary team including but not limited to guardians and other natural supports IEP teams school and district staff community treatment team members and other team members as indicated.
  5. Assess for need and submit referrals as clinically indicated for students on caseload.
  6. Support and implement ESD 112 agency policies and procedures.
  7. Provide consultation regarding behavioral health and behavior for school staff and guardians as requested.
  8. Work with Clinical Supervisor to maintain complete and timely documentation as required by law district policy and administrative regulations.

Other Functions:
  1. Maintain a safe therapeutic environment forstudents.
  2. Participate in staff and team meetings.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. MastersdegreecandidateorhigherinCounselingSocialWorkMarriageandFamilyTherapyorPsychology.
  2. Completed all prerequisite coursework for placement as an intern through degree program.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience working in a school setting.
  2. Experience providing mental health support or counseling to youth.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions:

  1. Travel throughout ESD 112 region.
  2. May require late afternoon or early evening appointments for school events or to meet with guardians.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the WA state patrol and FBI.
