Job Summary

ROLE OVERVIEW

Great Oaks Legacy Charter School (GOLCS) seeks a mission-aligned Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) to provide high-quality speech and language services to students across Great Oaks Legacy campuses.

As a core member of the Child Study Team (CST) the SLP ensures students with communication disorders receive comprehensive evaluation individualized intervention and compliant special education services that support access to rigorous instruction and long-term college and career readiness. The SLP collaborates closely with students families educators and related service providers to deliver services aligned with IDEA NJAC 6A:14 and the GOLCS commitment to inclusive student-centered learning. This is a twelve month position with evaluations and ESY support between June-August.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The Speech-Language Pathologist:

  • Reports to the Network Director or Managing Director of Student Services
  • Serves as an active Child Study Team member and potential case manager
  • Participates in required supervision collaboration meetings and professional learning

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluation Screening and Eligibility

  • Conduct speech and language screenings evaluations and reassessments for referred students.
  • Participate in eligibility determination and placement recommendations as a CST member.
  • Interpret evaluation results and communicate findings clearly to families educators and leadership.
  • Maintain accurate timely evaluation documentation in compliance with NJAC 6A:14.

Direct Therapy and IEP Implementation

  • Provide individual and group speech-language therapy addressing articulation fluency voice receptive language and expressive language.
  • Deliver services using push-in pull-out and inclusive service delivery models aligned to classroom curriculum and IEP requirements.
  • Develop and implement measurable IEP communication goals and intervention plans.
  • Monitor document and report student progress toward IEP goals each marking period.

Case Management and Compliance

  • Serve as case manager for students with speech-language services when assigned.
  • Coordinate IEP development annual reviews reevaluations and required documentation.
  • Maintain confidential student records and ensure compliance with federal state and district regulations.

Collaboration and Instructional Support

  • Collaborate with teachers tutors CST members and school leaders to support student communication goals.
  • Provide classroom strategies accommodations and modeling to reinforce speech and language development across settings.
  • Integrate curriculum-aligned communication skills into therapy sessions.

Family Engagement and Communication

  • Communicate regularly with families/guardians regarding student progress and strategies for home support.
  • Participate in IEP meetings parent conferences and multidisciplinary planning sessions.

Supervision Leadership and Professional Practice

  • Provide clinical supervision to Speech-Language Specialists and Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates in accordance with ASHA and state regulations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate therapy logs supervision documentation and compliance records.
  • Participate in professional development CST meetings and supervision as required.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • New Jersey Speech-Language Specialist Certification
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
  • Demonstrated eligibility and competence to supervise CFY candidates and Speech Specialists per ASHA and state regulations
  • Knowledge of IDEA and NJAC 6A:14 compliance requirements
  • Experience providing school-based speech and language therapy
  • Strong collaboration organization and communication skills
  • Deep belief that all students can achieve at high levels

Preferred

  • Experience serving as a case manager within a Child Study Team
  • Urban or charter school experience
  • Experience with inclusive service delivery and curriculum-aligned therapy
  • Prior clinical supervision or mentorship of early-career clinicians
  • Experience with EdPlan as a special education management system
