Construction Manager: (SADC Regions and other locations)Our client is a well-established company that is based in East London. They are on a recruitment drive for a dynamic hands-on and versatile Construction Manager to join their team.
The position requires that the Site Manager is willing to work outside of SA borders with a strong focus on Lesotho Eswatini and Botswana - must be open to other locations
Duties include but not limited:
Project Planning & Coordination
- Plan coordinate and oversee all construction activities from inception to completion
- Develop project schedules timelines and resource allocation plans
- Interpret architectural drawings specifications and technical documents
- Coordinate subcontractors suppliers consultants and site teams
Site Management
- Supervise daily on-site operations to ensure work is completed safely on time and within budget
- Monitor progress against project milestones and adjust plans where necessary
- Ensure proper site setup logistics and workflow efficiency
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks
Budget & Cost Control
- Prepare and manage project budgets
- Monitor expenses and control costs to prevent overruns
- Approve invoices track variations and manage change orders
- Report on financial performance to senior management
Health Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety procedures
- Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Ensure adherence to building codes municipal regulations and statutory requirements
Quality Assurance
- Ensure workmanship meets required standards and specifications
- Implement quality control systems and inspections
- Address defects and ensure corrective actions are taken
Stakeholder Communication
- Liaise with clients architects engineers and local authorities
- Provide regular progress updates and reports
- Resolve on-site disputes and operational challenges professionally
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and manage site supervisors foremen and labour teams
- Allocate tasks and monitor workforce productivity
- Provide mentorship guidance and performance feedback
Procurement & Resource Management- Source and manage materials equipment and subcontractors
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and prevent project delays
- Manage plant and equipment usage efficiently
Risk Management
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Resolve technical operational and scheduling issues
- Manage unforeseen site challenges effectively
Qualifications:
- Fluent in English with knowledge of Afrikaans and a Native Language
- Code 10-14 drivers license
- Proficient in MS Office Suite - Word / Excel / Outlook
- 6 years in a similar role
- Excellent understanding of HS&E rules and regulations
