Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director Credit Risk Management the Manager Credit Strategy plays a critical role in developing and maintaining risk decision-support strategies that enable high-quality data-driven decisions across the customer lifecycle. This role acts as a strategic advisor to business partners leveraging advanced analytics predictive modeling and risk frameworks to support growth optimize performance and ensure regulatory compliance.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design implement and maintain credit risk strategies using analytics business rules and predictive modeling.
- Lead the development of the risk strategy management framework and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Responsible for the decision engine requirements and strategy management
- Conduct independent analysis to identify strategic opportunities and performance enhancements.
- Represent the credit strategy function during internal and external audits or regulatory reviews.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and change management efforts including the implementation of a new loan origination platform decision engine and new credit products
- Oversee simulation validation testing and performance reporting for new or modified strategies.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of credit strategies to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage governance processes including meeting facilitation and oversight documentation.
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory requirements and risk model capabilities.
- Partner with data owners and vendors to source and validate data for analytical use.
- Support the planning and execution of operational programs and strategic roadmaps.
- Identify emerging trends and recommend enhancements to risk strategies and frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degrees Diplomas & Certifications:
- Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g. Finance Economics Data Science) or equivalent experience.
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
- 57 years of experience in credit risk strategy development or related analytical roles across both secured and unsecured retail credit products.
- Deep understanding of credit products risk management theory and regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in data analytics modeling techniques and risk systems technology.
- Experienced working with both Equifax and Transunion as it relates to credit bureau attributes and bureau provided credit scores
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Advanced problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience with data-driven decision-making and performance measurement.
- Experience with credit bureau data internal lending systems and external risk models.
- Familiarity with tools such as SAS SQL Python or other analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of change management methodologies and governance best practices.
