Plant HW Finishing Defect Technician Shift 5Position Overview
Position Objective: Run the defecting operation safely and efficiently with the maximum amount ofproduction and a minimal amount of off-quality.
Essential Duties:
1. Set up equipment for saw profiling tools and stain application.
2. Make machine/process adjustments on line and on computer.
3. Follow specific instructions on each order.
4. Achieve set quality standards.
5. Verify that the correct chemistry is being used for Hasko stain (all hasko stains are water based therefore the chemistry number will begin with the letter W).
6. Monitor parameters such as speed.
7. Make adjustments to settings to accommodate different sizes and widths of boards.
8. Make adjustments to settings to account for the texture of the boards
9. Overall visual control of the entire line.
10. Visual inspections of products for defects and grading.
11. Complete computerized quality reports.
12. Perform quality checks on finished products by assembling.
13. Work with saw blades and other tools and managing logs/records of usage.
14. Keep machines and work areas clean and free of dust.
15. Read and analyze charts and graphs.
16. Take measurements and work with SPC charts.
17. Willing to be an On the Job Trainer (OJT)
18. Operate the box feeding robot machines
Non-Essential Duties:
1. Must be a team player
2. Take an active role in committees.
3. Cross-training for other jobs on finishing line.
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to bend squat and stoop several times a day.
2. Must be able to stand for 8 12 hours a day.
3. Must be able to climb stairs several times through the day.
4. Must be able to assist in lifting up to 75 lbs. several times a day.
5. Must be able to lift 35-50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the day.
6. Must be able to handle the stress of meeting goals and production requirements.
7. Must be able to visualize defects in the product.
8. Must be able to visualize color defects in the product.
Other Requirements:
1. Basic reading writing and math ability.
2. Must be able to operate a lift truck once trained.
3. Must be capable of learning and performing additional operations
4. Must be capable of being trained on current computer systems and software.
Training Requirements:
1. On the job training
2. Must have all OSHA SAFE SMS and plant specific training.
3. Lift Truck training
4. Lockout/Tagout Training
5. Training on current plant computer systems and software.
Tool Equipment & Material Requirements:
1. Safety Glasses
2. PPE listed on JHA
Safety & Security Requirements:
1. Must comply with all required OSHA SAFE and plant specific safety rules and regulations.
