Plant Manager Structural & Miscellaneous Metals Fabrication

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Plant Manager to lead our structural and miscellaneous metals fabrication operations. This individual will oversee the production process across main fabrication lines driving efficiency quality and delivery across welding cutting and assembly functions. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in structural and architectural metals fabrication with a strong working knowledge of welding processes fabrication workflows and team leadership in a fast-paced environment. This is a pivotal leadership role ensuring projects are executed on time to spec and with safety and quality at the forefront.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabrication Leadership: Direct and coordinate shop operations focused on welding cutting fitting and assembly of structural and miscellaneous steel. Ensure production is executed in accordance with specifications drawings and industry codes.
  • Scheduling & Workflow Management: Collaborate with supervisors and project managers to plan fabrication schedules optimize labor allocation and reduce delays or rework.
  • Welding Quality Oversight: Ensure all welds meet applicable codes conduct fit-up checks and confirm dimensional accuracy of finished products.
  • Team Development: Mentor and supervise production staff including welders and fabricators. Match assignments to individual strengths and provide training to elevate craftsmanship and productivity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement process enhancements to improve throughput reduce waste and meet delivery milestones. Troubleshoot production issues and proactively resolve fabrication bottlenecks.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards. Reinforce safety protocols throughout the plant.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Establish fabrication KPIs generate reports on production performance and work with leadership to support workforce planning and operational forecasting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 10 years of progressive experience in welding and metal fabrication including leadership of shop floor teams.
  • Strong understanding of structural and miscellaneous metals used in architectural applications (e.g. stairs railings frames support structures).
  • Expertise in welding codes blueprint reading and fabrication techniques.
  • Familiarity with shop equipment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering design and project management.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines and high-quality standards.

Nice to Have

  • Experience overseeing finishing or painting operations (e.g. conversion coatings powder coat multi-stage wash systems).
  • Knowledge of floral polymer coatings or architectural-grade finishes.
  • Familiarity with AISC or AWS certification programs and inspection criteria
