SUMMARY:
Maintains and installs electrical systems in a food manufacturing plant setting. Act at all times in a manner as to comply with good manufacturing practice food safety and food quality including: Proper dress code personal cleanliness neatness and follow proper sanitation procedures. Follow all safety rules and procedures. Ensures any reports of food safety food quality unsanitary and unsafe conditions are delt with immediately or forwarded to correct department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following other duties may be assigned. On the job training available:
- Must arrive on time ready and able to work.
- Must wear and maintain all required PPE replace as needed.
- Must have an Idaho Journeymans Electricians License.
- Must be familiar with plant electrical systems.
- Trained or willing to be trained and authorized to perform Lock-out/Tag out in compliance with OSHA Standards.
- Trained or willing to be trained and authorized in Arch Flash as to comply with OSHA Standards.
- Trained or willing to be trained and authorized in Confined Space as to comply with OSHA Standards.
- Willing to accept emergency callouts.
- Measures cuts bends threads assembles and installs electrical conduit.
- Able to pull wiring through conduit.
- Able to splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
- Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches. Relays and circuit-breaker panels.
- Connects power cables to equipment such as electric range or motor and installs grounding leads.
- Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments.
- Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments relocation or replacement.
- Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
- Troubleshoots electrical problems using instruments diagnostics schematics and experience.
- Troubleshoots electrical problems with the irrigation systems (pivots).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. As well as statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentage compute rate ratio and proportions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and or practical situations.
- Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have Idaho Journeymans Electricians License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit climb or balance and taste and smell.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 Pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; taxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat; and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
