Position Title: EL1 Developer
Employment Type: Labour hire contract (approx 12 months with potential to extend)
Location: Canberra
Hourly Pay Rate: Rates negotiable dependent on skills and experience
Security Clearance/Requirements: Must hold a minimum Negative Vetting 1 clearance at time of application
Working Arrangements: Onsite in Canberra 5 days per week. Participation in a shared 24/7 on-call roster may be required.
A Federal Government department is seeking up to three experienced EL1 Developers to support the ongoing development and enhancement of critical ICT systems within a large and complex enterprise environment. This role sits within a high-performing IT delivery team responsible for modernising and maintaining secure scalable applications using Microsoft technologies and cloud-based platforms.
The successful candidates will bring strong Microsoft stack expertise a proactive mindset and the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes within agile delivery frameworks. Participation in a shared on-call support roster outside standard business hours may be required.
Design develop and maintain applications within a Microsoft Azure environment.
Deliver scalable and secure cloud-based solutions using Azure services including Functions Logic Apps PaaS SQL API Management Service Bus and Entra ID.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using YAML and manage software repositories.
Build and enhance model-driven applications.
Develop modern web applications using reactive JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
Apply secure-by-design principles and ensure applications meet least privilege and Cyber ISM requirements.
Collaborate within agile multi-disciplinary teams to deliver business outcomes.
Contribute to solution design and potentially provide technical leadership within delivery teams.
Manage multiple high-priority work items in a fast-paced continuously evolving environment.
Essential:
5 years experience in full-stack development.
Demonstrated experience designing and developing cloud-based solutions in Azure.
Experience with Azure resources including Functions Logic Apps PaaS SQL API Management Service Bus Entra ID and YAML pipelines.
Experience developing model-driven applications.
Strong understanding of secure application development aligned with Cyber ISM and least privilege principles.
Proven experience with modern reactive JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
Experience establishing and managing source control repositories and CI/CD pipelines.
Desirable:
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capability with solution design experience.
Ability to work under pressure and deliver business outcomes within tight timeframes.
Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
Experience working in agile delivery environments.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
