We encourage applications from people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds LGBTQIA people and United Workers Union is proudly affiliated with the Australian Labor RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and direct the political campaigns and organising plans that align with the unions objects and broader goals;Develop political strategies for other union portfolios to support their goals and objectives;Implement and promote practices policies strategies and systems that contribute to the unions goals including diversity inclusive workplaces and take steps to address barriers to participation or to address discrimination;Build lead and manage the work of multiple teams and also coordinate the delivery of plans with the involvement of other union portfolios;Lead and direct the Unions lobbying efforts in the Federal Parliament including assisting and contributing to submissions inquiries and other opportunities to further the Unions Organising (or equivalent) systems and tools to retrieve and analyse data and provide advice on risks and to report against target outcomes and take steps to mitigate risks or improve outcomes;Drive reform in the national union through the portfolio;Translate and contribute to best practice outcomes to increase knowledge across the whole union in political organising and whole of government and Departmental negotiations including with multiple SELECTION CRITERIAThe Co-ordinator demonstrates:A passion and drive to improve workers lives and achieve the goals of the relevant experience in union and political organising recruitment and campaigning;Experience in political and organising strategy development planning and reporting;Experience in using reporting systems to analyse data and create reports to provide advice on strategic plans;Experience in leading teams developing leaders and motivating and educating others;Excellent communication messaging and rapport building skills;Excellent negotiation skills;Experience in working with developing and supporting political leaders;Ability to engage with and connect members with community campaigning;Support members at political conferences and ensure United Workers Union members have the opportunity to engage in policy/conference motions relevant to the unions with the organisation of lobbying at all levels of government;Engage in electoral campaigning for United Workers Union target seats across the country;Implement other strategies and campaigns as developed by the Executive Director and National Coordinators of the Political Power PortfolioEnsure that the Unions values of equity diversity and inclusion are upheld and to build relationships internally and externally including development and maintenance of cross factional relationsTo perform this job you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:A valid drivers licence; andRight of Entry Permits; andImmunisation against COVID-19 or have a medical exemptionREMUNERATIONAn attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant which will include:Salary commensurate with demonstrated skills and experience;A motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance;16% superannuation6 weeks annual leave plus 25% leave loadingHOW TO APPLYPlease submit your resume together with a cover letter addressing the selection criteria to Catherine Coghlan on People Culture and Change via Dayforce.
