JOB SUMMARY
The Day Camp Site Leader provides on-site supervision and operational support for assigned camp locations. This role oversees daily activities supervises Group Leaders ensures participant safety and supports implementation of camp programs while maintaining communication with the Camp Director and Assistant Director.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as an integral member of summer camp program team.
Provide supervision instruction and ongoing assistance to program staff campers and volunteers during day camp programs.
Set up/take down of equipment/supplies etc.; supervise participants & implement assigned programs; complete/submit all required paperwork by set deadlines.
Responsible for assessing & making recommendations to Camp Director as to program equipment & supply needs; monitors safety of all aspects of program & campers
Follow protocol regarding handling of behaviors and special needs; gives Camp Director feedback on effectiveness of behavior protocols.
Assist/participate in: Administering behavior protocol as directed administering all medical protocol as directed verbal & physical assistance & accomplishes all other tasks as directed.
Responsible for day to day activities and safety of all participants and counselors assigned.
Assist and supervise Day Camp Group Leaders in the care cleanliness and security of the facility used by campers during the program.
Address all pertinent issues affecting programs and communicate them as appropriate to Day Camp Director (i.e. staff/client/ parent/transportation issues/concerns etc) in a timely manner.
Communicate clearly honestly and respectfully with staff participants parents and volunteers.
Establish good rapport with families of the program participants as well as keeps them informed about concerns affecting the camper.
Create a nurturing positive and professional environment while promoting program policies and procedures amongst staff volunteers and community.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Liaison for parents
Engage with the children and staff.
Process registrations and maintain records.
Establish good rapport with families of the program participants as well as keeps them informed about concerns affecting the camper.
Create a nurturing positive and professional environment while promoting program policies and procedures amongst staff volunteers and community.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
College graduate with education back ground preferred. High school graduate minimum requirement.
At least 2 years working with children ages 6-12 in a structured setting such as another day camp church/youth group boy/girl scout leader day care leader etc.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be an excellent problem solver and solve issues in a timely manner.
Must be able to discipline appropriately and mediate situations.
Help and encourage anyone who needs advice or a helping hand.
Support others through teamwork dedication and guidance in order to achieve the completion of a task or activity.
Must have complete knowledge or proven ability to learn the rules and regulations of the city program including the child Safety Policy.
Must be friendly active and like to interact with children of all ages.
Ability to develop coordinate and direct varied activities involved in a community program.
