DEPARTMENT Parks and Recreation POSITION Day Camp Group Leader DIVISION Recreation STATUS Part-time CATEGORY Hourly $15-$16 FLSA Non-Exempt REPORTS TO Day Camp Assistant Director JOB SUMMARY The Day Camp Group Leader leads daily activities for assigned camper groups by facilitating age-appropriate games arts and crafts and structured programming. This role ensures participant safety promotes positive engagement and supports overall camp operations under the supervision of camp leadership. PRINCIPAL DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITY Lead and facilitate age-appropriate activities including arts crafts sports games and themed programming for assigned camper groups. Provide direct supervision of campers while maintaining a safe structured and positive camp environment. Implement daily schedules lesson plans and program activities as directed by camp leadership. Monitor camper safety behavior and engagement following established safety procedures and behavior management protocols. Support group transitions camp events and daily program flow to ensure smooth operations. Maintain clear communication with Site Leaders and camp leadership regarding camper needs concerns or program updates. Maintain cleanliness organization and proper care of equipment supplies and activity areas. Document and report incidents injuries or behavioral concerns according to departmental procedures. Support teamwork collaboration and a positive staff culture among camp team members. Perform additional duties as assigned. OTHER DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES Play and engage with the children. Maintains attendance of assigned group on fieldtrips and supervise children on bus and at fieldtrip site Greet parents and interact with them as necessary Carry out any other duties as assigned by site manager day camp director and assistant EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Preferred at least 2 years working with children ages 6-12 in a structured setting such as another day camp youth groups boy/girl scout leader day care leader etc. Knowledge of games and art activities Ability to switch up if a current plan is not receptive. KNOWLEDGESKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be an excellent problem solver and solve issues in a timely manner. Must be able to discipline appropriately and mediate situations. Must be friendly active and like to interact and play with children of all ages. Support others through teamwork dedication and guidance in order to achieve the completion a task or activity. Must have complete knowledge or proven ability to learn the rules and regulations of the city program and Child Safety Policy.
