Job Description
BAE Systems one of the worlds leading defense contractors and a Top Ten Prime Contractor to the Department of War is hiring a Principal Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) Specialist for our Kingsport TN site.
As a SHE Specialist you will be at the forefront of ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and you will be instrumental in supporting a culture of safety excellence. Your expertise and leadership will be crucial in driving our safety management system forward.
As a SHE Specialist your responsibilities will include:
Managing safety programs to safeguard employees and ensure compliance.
Functioning as a Subject Matter Expert in programs like Lockout Tagout (LOTO) Hot Work etc.
Analyzing and interpreting data to improve effectiveness of programs.
Inspecting and auditing areas to identify potential hazards and recommending controls.
Leading incident investigations and root cause analyses to ensure effective corrective and preventative actions.
Assisting with ISO 45001 audits and tracking action items.
Developing and maintaining procedures and conducting training.
Providing guidance and building relationships with employees and managers across the plant.
Promoting and supporting safety practices policies and initiatives.
Fostering a safety culture where safety is a core value of the plant.
Maintaining knowledge of corporate and regulatory requirements.
Presenting to leadership.
Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesRequired Education Experience & Skills
Bachelors degree in a safety or a science related field with 6 years of experience working in a safety position or equivalent combination of education and experience
May consider candidates with fewer years experience for a more junior role.
Experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment
Experience providing oversight of SHE programs
Ability to work off hours in all weather conditions as needed
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook
Strong verbal written and presentation skills
Preferred Education Experience & Skills
Professional Certification in the SHE field (ASP CSP etc.) preferred
Bachelors degree in safety or science field

Full-Time Salary Range: $96623 - $164259
