JOB SUMMARY
The Aquatics Program Aide supports aquatic programming swim lessons program engagement and daily facility operations at Spray Park Ideal Beach and Pierre Moran Pool. This position takes a lead role in facilitating swim lessons while assisting with activities special events and participant support to help maintain a safe organized and welcoming aquatic environment. The Aquatics Program Aide works under Program and Recreation Coordinator and collaborates with aquatic staff to support successful program delivery and positive guest experiences.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
Assist with implementation of aquatic programs activities games lessons and special events as directed by aquatic leadership.
Provide excellent guest service by welcoming patrons assisting with questions and supporting participant engagement.
Support program setup breakdown and organization of equipment and activity areas.
Assist participants and families with program guidance schedules and facility navigation.
Help maintain cleanliness organization and readiness of program and public spaces.
Support crowd flow and guest interaction at Spray Park Ideal Beach and Pierre Moran Pool as assigned.
Monitor participant behavior and communicate concerns to lifeguards or supervisors while supporting a positive environment.
Maintain communication with Aquatic Management and Head Lifeguards to support smooth operations.
Assist aquatics staff with non-rescue operational tasks as directed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Play and engage with the children.
Assist with other various all ages programs.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor to support the overall success of the program.
Be flexible may work evenings and weekends.
Cleaning maintaining and ensuring proper use of facilities and equipment.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in recreation education or a related field is a plus.
Experience working with youth adults or seniors in recreational educational or similar settings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of recreational activities sports environmental educations arts and crafts or event coordination is highly desirable.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be an excellent problem solver and solve issues in a timely manner.
Must be able to appropriately mediate situations.
Must be friendly active and like to interact and play with children of all ages.
Support others through teamwork dedication and guidance in order to achieve the completion a task or activity.
Must have complete knowledge or proven ability to learn the rules and regulations of the city program and Child Safety Policy.

DRUG TEST REQUIRED
The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore a post offer pre-employment drug screen is required. Random drug testing may be conducted after employment.
