Located in the beating heart of Union Square Beacon Grand is more than a hotel its a cultural destination that blends storied heritage with contemporary style. From its beautifully reimagined guestrooms and suites to its celebrated dining venues and vibrant social spaces Beacon Grand strikes the perfect balance of timeless elegance and modern energy. Above it all the Starlite Room long a legendary name in San Francisco nightlife once again shines as an anchor in the sky drawing guests and locals alike with its elevated atmosphere and unforgettable views. Starlite stands as a historic and revered cocktail establishment within the heart of San Francisco. Known for its association with prominent figures such as Harry Denton Alan Ginsberg and Herb Caen the venue is a frequent figure in the citys cultural narrative. Now after decades of legacy Starlite is poised for a resurgence reopened its doors in early 2024. This chapter promises guests panoramic vistas of San Francisco from its vantage point on the 21st floor of Beacon Grand a Union Square Hotel.

Starlite is seeking an accomplished part-time Host

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a welcoming energetic environment for all guests both locals and visitors.
  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival manage check-in and escort them to their tables.
  • Present menus and offer basic information or recommendations as needed.
  • Recognize and acknowledge regular guests and VIPs; communicate key details to the team.
  • Set the tone for the guest experience as the first point of contact maintaining a polished professional presence.
  • Manage reservations and the waitlist using the designated reservation system (e.g. OpenTable).
  • Communicate guest preferences special occasions and specific needs to the FOH team servers and managers.
  • Coordinate seating and table assignments with managers and FOH staff considering table turns events and floor flow.
  • Promptly notify managers of any guest complaints disruptive behavior or signs of intoxication.
  • Maintain a clean organized and presentable host stand and entrance area at all times.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in a high-volume or high-profile hospitality environment preferred (1 year).
  • Strong guest-service orientation with warm professional communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask remain calm under pressure and problem-solve quickly.
  • Experience with OpenTable or a similar reservation platform especially in managing high-volume reservations and waitlists.
  • Basic knowledge of standard restaurant/bar service procedures and front-of-house operations.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Must be available to work days nights weekends and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and move with agility for long shifts in a high-energy late-night environment.
  • Involves frequent use of hands to handle menus devices and other items.
  • Requires frequent reaching bending and stooping.
  • Requires lifting moving and carrying up to 25 pounds regularly throughout the shift.
