Job Title: Bartender
The Bartender at Starlite is the architect of the guest experience and the heartbeat of our lounge. More than a mixologist the Bartender is a master of hospitality precision and performance. Tasked with executing a sophisticated beverage program this individual balances the art of the craft with the speed of high-volume service. The Bartender ensures that every pour shake and stir reflects the Starlite Standard delivering impeccable cocktails with a presence that is as refined as the drinks themselves.
Key Responsibilities:
- Craft & Execution: Prepare and serve a curated menu of classic and signature cocktails with exactness focusing on proper technique balanced flavors and exquisite garnishing.
- Atmosphere & Engagement: Curate a sophisticated bar-side experience; engage guests with professional charisma offering expert recommendations from our spirits and wine collection while maintaining a commanding presence.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain an immaculate and organized bar well. Manage mise en place efficiently to ensure the bar is always prepared for high-volume surges without compromising quality.
- Technical Precision: Demonstrate expert knowledge of spirits bitters infusions and glassware. Execute precise pours and maintain consistency across every drink served whether for the bar top or the service well.
- Collaboration: Work in lockstep with Server Assistants and floor staff. Provide clear direction to support staff to ensure the bar remains stocked with polished glassware fresh prep and ice.
- Accountability: Manage cash and credit transactions with high integrity. Perform opening and closing duties including inventory counts restocking and deep-cleaning protocols to ensure the bar is show-ready at all times.
Requirements & Skills:
- Experience: 35 years of experience in a high-volume upscale cocktail lounge craft bar or luxury hotel environment.
- Advanced Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of classic cocktail builds spirits categories (including rare/allocated bottles) and wine service. Knowledge of contemporary mixology trends is essential.
- The Hustle: Exceptional ability to multi-task under pressure maintaining a calm graceful demeanor and theatre while managing a heavy ticket rail.
- Communication: Fluent in English; ability to communicate with sophistication and clarity to a high-end clientele and coordinate effectively with the kitchen and floor team.
- Compliance: Current Food Handler and Alcohol Service Certifications (e.g. LEAD/TIPS) are mandatory. Must adhere to all state and local liquor laws regarding over-service and ID verification.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in a luxury or boutique upper-upscale setting is required.
- Specialized spirits training or mixology certifications are a significant plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Endurance: Ability to stand and move with agility for long shifts in a high-energy late-night environment.
- Precision Movement: Dexterity for high-speed shaking stirring and delicate garnishing.
- Strength: Ability to lift and carry 40lbs (kegs liquor cases ice buckets) as needed.
- Flexibility: Must be available to work late nights weekends and holidays as the lounge schedule dictates.
