You will work on client projects and learn key skills in information security in one of the following fields:Solutions Development: Solutions Development (SolDev) is the software engineering team that builds custom cybersecurity tools & platforms for our consulting practices. SolDev CSAs will work in-person in our New York lab on our production applications writing code in Python and LocationsNew York NYPosition DetailsThis paid internship begins in June with a virtual orientation schedule. During this time you will meet with firm leadership participate in training exercises network with colleagues and join other special Summer Associates work directly with our existing employees in one of our U.S. offices. Immersed in our experienced client teams you will contribute to a wide variety of client projects. You will learn how to use cutting-edge tools and technologies and attend regular training sessions and demos to build technical and professional skills. Throughout the summer you will complete a research project on an impactful topic relevant to the work of the firm and present it at the end of the the very beginning you will be learning from managers and colleagues with robust technical backgrounds many of whom contributed directly to developing the foundations of the practice of cyber-focused industry. Cyber Summer Associates have both a mentor and supervisor to support their client work professional development and research Cyber Summer Associate Program is a unique and exciting opportunity that is aimed at helping you build the skills and experience needed to kick start your career in cybersecurity and at LevelBlue!Job ResponsibilitiesPerform tasks related to technical consulting engagements involving digital forensics incident response security testing or security advisorySupport teams that are assessing clients risks related to internal IT infrastructure publicly available IT assets and other relevant attack surfacesBecome proficient with industry standard tools and practicesPreserve and analyze data from laptop and desktop computers servers and mobile devicesDesign develop document analyze test and modify computer systems & programsConduct statistical analysis of large data sets and other investigative components of casesLearn to present sophisticated technical matters and analysis clearly and conciselyHelp uncover causes of clients network intrusions/data breaches and increase knowledge of malwareAid in the development of IT security risk metricsResearch and pilot security software (commercial and open-source)Assist in developing proprietary tools and programs to aid in matters of forensic analysis network incident response or penetration testingWork alongside ourpractitioners and cybersecurity specialistsStay up-to-date with the current regulatory environment industry trends and related implicationsDevelop and broaden skills through training and researchContribute to and attend in-house training sessionsSuggest and pursue firm-enhancing projects that draw on your skills and academic interestsBasic QualificationsCurrently pursuing Bachelors or Graduate Degree in Computer Science Information SecurityEngineering Digital Forensics or another quant-focused majorKnowledge of computer networking technologiesFamiliarity with computer system hardware and softwareStrong analytic qualitative and quantitative reasoning skillsStrong written and oral communication skills plus attention to detailSolid understanding of MS Office and familiarity with Windows Macintosh and/or Linux operating systemsCreative problem solving and eagerness to learn and research new skillsExceptional work ethic high level of professionalism and commitment to ethical standardsStrong self-motivation and a positive mentalityApplicants for this role should be rising seniors graduating between Winter 2026 Spring 2027 and have a GPA of 3.0 or ExperienceSecurity Testing: Familiarity with configuring identifying testing and remediating vulnerable services and security bugs and other ethical hacking techniques; experience with cybersecurity related CTF challenges and platforms such as Hack The Box Over The Wire Hacker101 : Investigative mindset foundational knowledge of digital forensic artifacts or operating systems and experience with any of the following: malware analysis; database operations and analysis; system administration; security tooling including EDR; cloud security and investigations; preservation of digital media; parsing and drawing conclusions from large data Development: You must love writing code as youll be doing it every day. Youll know Python and a statically-typed compiled language (e.g. Java C Rust Zig Haskell). Youll know algorithms and data structures version control with git unit testing and be comfortable working with remote team members and taking direction from them. Interest in cybersecurity and AWS cloud is to collaborate or work independently and ability to grasp new concepts quickly and adapt to changing with Python Java C# C SQL or assembly languages are a plus but programming skills are not role is open to candidates legally authorized to work in the United States.
